A hot summer day!

It was 105 degrees on July 15 1999. I walked to a 10:00 appointment at my GYN’s Office, which was about one mile
from my home. I was about halfway there when I started sweating more than usual. My eyes got blurry, my feet began to feel heavy, I nearly fainted. I knew something was wrong. I told my doctor my symptoms. He immediately sent me over to the hospital emergency room for some tests. Amazingly the tests came back within three hours. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. And this day was the first day of the rest of my life! I knew I would have to make some major health changes to live the best of my life. So here I am, today, 10 years later. I found some new friends I can share some of my ever-increasing, wonderful stories about the challenges of daily life with diabetes. I thank God I’m still here today, I thank my doctors and diabetes educators for their medical expertise for timely information, I thank my family and the entire community of diabetes friends for support in my continual healing process.
