A little about me

I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for just about 5 years now. I’ve been married to the best husband ever for almost 8 years, and have a beautiful daughter who’s almost 7.
Of course I never dreamed I’d get diabetes at 21! When I was first diagnosed, I got my A1C down to six something and did everything the doctor told me: measured all my food, did everything at the same time, and took really good care of it. Well, fast forward 5 years to a 8.6, and here I am! A couple years after I was diagnosed, my diabetes educator told me to eat pretty much anything and anytime, and just count my carbs and take insulin accordingly. That’s where it went downhill. So, now I’m getting back on track - trying to have a schedule again, to eat right, to exercise, and all that stuff…and, hopefully I’ll get on a pump once I count my carbs faithfully
Anyway, I’m so glad I found this site. I had no idea there were so many blogs and online communities for diabetics!
Hope to here from any and all!

You can do it Amy! You are doing the right thing by getting back on track… it sure takes alot of work, patience, and discipline, but it sure pays off in the end. You can do it! I have a little daugther too! She is 20 months old… It’s the best!

Amy, keep going! I have been having diab 1 for 2 years and a half, during some periods I care less, and I put on kilos, but now after a year I’ve lost them and feel happy about that! I’m enjoying light and low fat food, and often I must really say it tast good!
