The veterans Administration also recognizes type 2 diabetes as an illness caused by agent orange which many of those of us that served in Viet Nam have been afflicted with. It seems to me that there are many things that can cause diabetes to become part of our lives…That means that you may claim it if you have a claim in for military disability. At this point I don’t know the additional standards that need to be met as I have not filed a claim at this point. I have this information only because of a mailer that I received from the VA some time back. I would suggest that any Viet Nam era vet contact their local VA offfice for further information.
I would like to add that you should do it immediately. I’ve been trying to get that for two years now. the best approach may be to meet with the VA rep at the VA hospital. They have been very helpful
What I find so absurd is that they recognize type 2 caused by agent orange, but not type 1. Why is that? Do they think that agent orange can’t destroy a pancreas? It destroyed anything it came in contact with. It can - it does - it did - to me.
go to your DVA AT THE VA and have them submit a claim for service connection, asap.
