Alpha Lipoic Acid

I had a friend tell me that she did a lot of diabetic research for her mother and alpha lipoic acid was a supplement that really her mother and another friend that is diabetic.

I am throwing this our for discussion before I look any further.

FYI I am a type 2 insulin dep MDI low carb tudiabetes junk-eeeeeeeeeeee

I take Insulow which contains R-ALA a form of ALA which the company claims works better than the cheaper forms of ALA. It has a positive effect on my neuropathy. The company claims help in lowering blood sugar but I don’t notice any effect in that dept. This is one of the few supplements Dr Bernstein recommends. He advises taking it with evening primrose oil. ALA is widely used in Europe for neuropathy.

I also am a type 2, low carb, tudiabetes junk-eeeeeeeeeeee

I understand this is only $7/month

If you go with the R-ALA it cost’s more than that. Insulow is about $30 for 180 caps. I take 4 to 6 per day so It can add up.
