Now, most folks would be ecstatic with and A1c of 6.2 (maybe the best score I’ve ever had), but not this cranky, old man. Know why?
Because I am still out of control with numbers ranging from 30 to 250. Matter of fact, I was 34 at about 2:30 am this morning. Well, at least one thing is consistent in all this… an average will almost always be wrong. My average glucose level was 152 for the last 3 months and that should translate to a 6.9%. A 6.2 should give me an average number of 132.
I wonder, do the hypo excursions “weigh” heavier in the amount of A1c produced than the higher sugar levels do?
Things are getting better tho. I really don’t feel that I had a really good starting point until I was able to get onto Symlin full time about 3 weeks ago and I still have plenty of tuning to do. The very high 2hr numbers followed by the very low 4hr numbers are pretty much gone. I am finally able to “tune” in basal rates that actually work the way the are supposed to.
I had my first appointment with my new endo today. Went well, she was not rushed and took the time to answer questions and get answers from me on how things were actually going. That is a bonus in my book. They downloaded my pump (whey they didn’t just pull the info from Carelink, I dunno), so she is going to review that and get back with me later in the week. She also did a bunch of labwork, including screening for things like Celliac’s, thyroid and testosterone problems. Yay, more things to be wrong! Seriously, there I times when I think I must keep the equivalent of 3 people fully employed just for all the medical stuff I go thru and I know there are folks out there who go thru a heck of a lot more
Thanks for stopping by
