Im wondering if anyone has any alternatives to this product? When I switch out a contact detach, and the adhesive no longer works, I have been using a waterproof tape by 3M that works ok, but its not 100%. I ask because the IV tape is kind of expensive. Idea’s?
I use this stuff called Flexfix Opsite tape that holds pretty well. It’s about $20/ roll but the roll lasts me about a bit longer than a year.
I second this recommendation… it’s very similar to the IV3000 but it’s stronger, and as mentioned comes on a roll that lasts a really long time.
Is that something you can get at a walgreens?
Thanks for the recommendation. Any leads as to where to get it? A quick search showed me that its no longer available from the manufacturer.
Ah, never mind, I see it on Amazon.
I usually do google shopping, I hope they don’t stop making it. It is great stuff for holding the CGM on!
Acidrock, is the cgm waterproof? I swim a lot and that one of the reason why I stopped using the pump a few years ago. I figure the remote is not, but is the sensor that you stick in?
I shower with the CGM all the time. I decided to punt when I went surfing but I run all the time and get pretty sweaty too. I think the IV3000 would hold it on. I don’t feel too obligated to pump and swim as swimming usually trashes my BG and I just disconnect. I used to like swimming more, or at least hanging out in the lazy river, but I’m not all that interested in it b/c of all the junk plugged into my abdomen. I think IV 3000 might work but I can’t say I’ve tried it out.
When I am swimming it is off, but I do fish. I go out sometimes in the flats and I am up to my waist in water. That is why I dumped the medtronic since I killed it once when it got soaked in a rain storm. I live in FL and it rains here everyday in the summer. Then news pumps I like because they are water tight and don’t have to worry about them getting wet. I am also going for a cgm and I am asking anyone and everyone about them since the sales rep are just too positive about their products and Hippa laws won’t let them give any info on people in my area that use them.
My animas ping is waterproof.
Omni pod and ping are! I had the mini-med which was not. That was why I stopped pumping the past few years. I had one that got soaked from the rain and had to replace it.
I got rained on pretty severely one day w/ a MM and it was ok but I stuck it in my Amphipod pouch so it might have had some protection there. It was a “I think I can run before the rain gets here” fail and I was drenched.
Just received my order of the Opsite Flexfit. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for letting me know about this product.
What’s a opstie flexfit?
Third it! The stuff is great, and though a pricey outlay does last seemingly forever.
Here's a link. It’s a very thin transparent film that sticks forever, great stuff! I’m not recommending this site, just the first one that came up.
Amazon has it. I love the stuff. It allows me to re-use my steel infusion sets if the site starts to feel irritated or pokey. I also reuse the steel sets for about two or three set changes. I just make sure its not clogged and wipe with alcohol prior.
