Any ideas to save finger tips?

My daughter is 4 and we use the Accu-chek Multiclix mentioned in a few other posts. She much prefers this to her previous lancet. We also use her toes when we’re at home and she really prefers them as well. When we’re out and her feet aren’t accessible, we use the sides of her finger tips. I want to look into other places to test as well to give more options.
Best wishes to you all!

alcohol swab before and after each prick. it seems to keep the icky dirties and whatever swelling may occur. i have barely any callouses doing it this way and i test 7x a day for the last 14 years.

I use my toes and ear lobes to help give my fingers a break

I get calluses on my fingers too. I have used every size lancet out there, changing them regularly ,etc. It just seem to be something that comes with having diabetes. However I know some people do use the inside of there arm or the palm area near their thumb.I haven’t tried it myself. Im very fair skinned and the tiniest red mark on me looks 10 times worse than it really is.It may be something you guys want to try though, and moisturize regularly. The idea about palmolive wasn’t bad either.

Likewise, I almost always check on my forearm. I have done it for years and it has been quite accurate. My fingertips look like a non-diabetics.

There are lancet devices that have a special tip that allow you to test on your forearm. Not sure how it goes, haven’t tried it before. I just continue to use my fingers. Good Luck!

33 gauge helps so much for me. Someone else might have mentioned this-
Set the lance diagonally to the side of the finger- use your thumb to ‘push up’ the area where the lance is. This should cause the blood to collect in this one area. Using a 33 gauge on a low setting (3 or 4 out of 8), prick the skin. Enough blood should come out with easy and little to no squeezing.

Try the opposite side of the finger too… it might be difficult, but its a clean site.
