Any Omnipod 5 inside info?

I know some people here have better information than I do or than Google does. I’m aware of the news a few days ago that it’s expecting “limited release” in June. Wondering what my chance is of getting it this summer.

I have an appt with my endo Monday morning (March 29). I’ll discuss with him of course, but he doesn’t know everything either. Any info I can go in with helps.

Background: I’m not on any pump now but I am on Dexcom G6. For me, getting rid of alerts would be the main reason for going closed loop. My A1c is OK for me. But I no longer get back to sleep consistently after awakening for a low alert. And I’d really like to get rid of alerts before going on some bike tours starting in September, as I’ll be camping near other people or in some cases sharing a room, and I’d really rather not disturb others.

I have used a do-it-yourself hybrid closed-loop (Loop) system for over four years now. My experience is that you will not completely eliminate alerts but you can appreciably reduce them.

Perhaps you could address the root cause of your difficulty returning to sleep after awakening in the middle of the night. There are many things you could do to improve your sleep hygiene that would enable sleeping again after an interruption. I, too, had this problem and was able to fix it with changing a few habits.

The 110mg/dl lowest target is pretty disappointing to me though the learned basal is really cool. It does make it so you can’t like about your TDD like you can to CIQ to get a lower target…

Terry4. I here you on getting back to sleep. I’m constantly waking up in the middle of the night making corrections so I don’t go low. I would love to go to a pump of some sort.
I’ve looked at the Omnipod but my issue was the amount of insulin you had to load in it was more then what I would normal use in that time period.

@John70: You can load up to 200 units per pod, but the minimum is much less, like 85 units. Maybe that’s still way too much for you but I thought you might under the impression that you must load with 200 units.
