Any Other Bayer Contour Users?

I have an Accu Chek Aviva & really like the lancing device. Of course, you can buy just that part.

Hi Dawn,

Several discussions on Tu D about meter accuracy, if you want to do a search. The jury’s out on this one. I had four different brands–freebies. Took my meters with me to a lab when I had bloodwork done. Tested them all against the lab results to see which was closest.

Getting test results of 104, 88 & 96 is pretty close by meter standards. They’re accurate to 20-+, which is not very accurate at all. You can test two different fingers with the same meter & get different readings.

Use the second drop of blood. The first drop contains skin tissue. No one ever told me this. A nurse saw me testing in a restroom & told me:) Don’t use alcohol to clean your fingers. It will dry out your skin & doesn’t disinfect anyway. Soap & water & really dry your hands well. Also, you don’t need to change your lancets as often as they told you. No one does. Many use the same one for months.

Dear Dawn.

None of the new meters are accurate. they used to be 10 years ago. Buy the cheapest.

I love this device! I use one touch meters but have like 5 of these lancet devices now! They are so much easier on the old fingers! Especially if you test 12+ times a day.

If you take advantage of the Accu-Check’s free meter offer they have now, they give you one of these bad boys for free! Plus they give 60 free strips with the meter so now I have a great backup meter in my car in case I ever forget my one touch. Here is a link if anyone is interested in a new meter or this great poker device:

I’ve never used a Bayer meter. I was an Accu-check user for years and moved to the One Touch a couple of years ago…

Hey, bayor contour is great with me…less blood and mines gives me no problems for over a year now.

I use to use the one touch ultra mini,it went haywire,I use the bayer contour now,I love it! It seems to be way more accurate than the others i have tried…hated the lancing device so I use my one touch lancer,I like it!

The big plus for me using Bayer Contour ( Canada Medtronic ) is: test result sent to my 522 pump …and I sometimes screw up 1 ) not enough blood on the strip …it will NOT work ;-( …this bugs me .
2 ) I have 2 Contour meters in my pack …I also wear a sensor and when I need to calibrate I use my GREEN SKINNED one , if I do NOT need to calibrate I use my RED SKINNED one …life is complicated???..YES and I have made errors and used the GREEN one( called LINK ) …no REAL big problem making that error . My last random Lab test very close to finger poke test on both meters …they were all low…:frowning: and percentage wise on target .Bayer will supply those expensive round batteries, when required .Just a call away

There is a Bayer meter users group, in case you want to join it:

I just started with this lancing device and it is wonderful. Love it!
