Any tips for a new Dexcom G4 user?

Hi: I just got my Dexcom G4 today. I have been using the Dexcom 7+ for about 2.5 years, and the Dexcom has been simply awesome for me. I'd love to have any tips that you experienced G4 users have for me, the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful. Thanks!

I used a Dexcom 7+ for a week on a trial. It worked well. Have the G4 since May - with all the good things bout the 7+, the G4 is WONDERFUL. Accuracy is generally terrific, battery life of the receiver is good. Range is much better - I can walk around much of the house without losing the signal. It could use better alert tones, but not a huge issue. All-in-all, it's an upgrade without much, if any, downside. And issues I've encountered with it are likely not unlike the ones you've seen with the 7+.

I suppose, I'd have preferred if they'd made the receiver look less like an old iPod might make it more conspicuous, but in a city, like Chicago, where iPods and smartphones are the #1 items stolen these days, the iPod look might not have been the best idea. :)

Thanks, Thas. Yes, "Apple picking" is rampant! I am about to head off to Europe, where pickpockets are rampant, and so I am going to have to conceal my Dexcom.

Here is a good post about the bad:

Congrats, it is a wonderful little machine. Hope I never have to be without mine. I can't wait for the Animas Vibe!
