Anyone else know that you are not supposed to wear our pump against your skin?

Make sure you keep your old pump, because then you have your own back-up, and don’t have to ask MM for a spare!

Do you have a pump clip? I always wear my pump clipped on to my bra, although i am blessed with a large top half and my pump lives and fits perfectly in the wired middle section of the bra its and its only noticable if my tops a little loose. Good luck xx

I have been wearing the pump against my skin for as long as i can remember. I typically wear it toward my waste/side tucked into my (tight-enough fitting) underwear. I wear it with the screen-side up, so it is not against my skin. I have had no problems with wearing it like this over the years.

Natalie, thanks for you mentioning this ;this will be actually the first time I get to keep the pump as truly ’ mine " . When I upgraded previously , the warranty was still in place .

A little secret is not to wear the pump between the girls instead you put it on your side under your armpit. Takes a little getting used to but works really well and hardly visible even in a t shirt.

If you take the clip off it's profile is even smaller.

Wow, I just switched and I think this will work out better. Why didn’t I think of that!! Thanks for the tip.

The MM is IPX7 rated which means "Immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter" of water.

I don't think that warm and moist skin is going to harm an otherwise good pump :)

seksi tube…beautiful <3

thats where I clip it in too. I have never tried it without the clip. Thanks!

Good idea! And how do you fish it out when you need a bolus – through the neck, or through the sleeve?

Hmm… good info. I dont know what the problem was then. I am going to continue to wear it in my bra, and if it happens again I suppose they will have to replace it again. Maybe I have corrosive sweat.

I fish it out through the neck

I never had a problem before either

I forgot as I haven’t gone for winter bike rides for a while but I used to hang my pump on my MedicAlert necklace between my pecs when I’d ride and it was cold out too. I didn’t have any problems then but that was probably > a year ago.

Honey, you may not have to, but I wear the padded variety. ( I am not ":endowed" like that) All designs all colors and the pump does not show. I wear a little baby sock around it in the summer time, to keep it from sweat; and just tuck it in the bra, smallk clipand all in the winter and fall. I never have it showing that way.and I wear a lot of dresses, skirts, and somewhat form fitting tops, some even with a bit of manufactured cleavage ( Thanks to bras ranging in price from Victorias's Secret to bargain basement Vassarettes from Wal-mart)

I had one pump to malfunction like that with stuck buttons on a hot July day at a church picnic. I ended up with really high blood sugars, and could not eat any of the yummies....grrr.
the pump rep on the phome said it may have been caused by the poisture, but I did not know it was 'Official" not to wear it clost to the skin. So when I am out and about and working out and may be prone to sweating, I pin the sock-covered pump to the interior of my padded bra and keep on trucking.

God Bless,

Brunetta

This is one of the many reasons I loves me my Ping and why I switched from Minimed to Animas. I just bolus from the meter. It is awesome and something I have been wanting for 8 years now.

But when I did have my Minimed it would depend on what I wore. Most of the time I could reach the pump from the armpit area as I'd wear a sleeveless sheath dress and a jacket/top. Or through the neck. Or go to the bathroom after the meal. If I wore a skirt I'd usually get to the pump underneath my top. I also had the Minimed remote that could do an easy bolus and would sometimes use that.

Did I say I love my Ping? Made bra bolusing much easier.

Personally I think the help line was grasping at straws when they said wearing it against your skin would cause problems. People do live in warm or desert climates and pump successfully. Like Dep said the pump is technically waterproof. Heck Minimed sells a bra pouch in their store.

With this type of official endorsement of wearing the pump in your bra I don't see how they can turn around and blame how you wear it for a potential problem.

Also for what it's worth I had frozen pump several times one weekend and the help line told me it was due to atmospheric static electricity. They had me remove the battery for 5 minutes to reset the pump. I went through a lot of batteries that weekend as there were a lot of thunder storms in the area. Luckily it was on vacation. I have never had any problems like that before that one weekend and none since then either in all the almost 9 years I've been pumping. So your problem may be an isolated occurrence also.

If problems do persist though keep calling them. That's what the warranty is for.

OOOHHHH I am going to have to look into a ping.

We have the same tastes in bras. I am definitely trying the babysock method.

I ordered a pump pouch made of cloth and use that alternating with the baby sock thingie and wear my pump in my bra also. I’ve been pumping since Aug 2010 so I’m not exactly a veteran. But I’ve had good luck so far.
