I started my G4 in early December. I’ve never paid much attention to how long the receiver charge lasts, but in general I felt that the battery meter stayed on full charge for a few days and then went down gradually.
Lately I feel as though the receiver is losing its charge more quickly and not even making it through one whole day with the battery meter full. I plan to start keeping track of when I charge it so I can quantify whether it’s battery life is getting shorter.
I’ve normally charged it when it gets down to 1/3 battery life left. Right now I’m going to just let it go until it gives me a warning.
I am not really a fan of all these rechargeable medical devices. I really preferred my Medtronic Revel pump/CGM where I could just carry around an extra AAA battery. Most of BG meters always went for years between battery changes so I’m not super impressed with my Verio meters that need charging every few weeks. At least I’m not using the tagging feature on these meters. When I did that, they needed charging almost every week.
Oh well, I wonder if my receiver is going to last a whole year. So far I’ve had no problems with the transmitter and that’s the part that’s only supposed to last for 6 months.
No, have had no issues with G4 receiver. I've had it six months and the charge has lasted up to 4-5 days for us. However, most days we charge it every day so I only really notice the charge life when we are on vacation and not paying as much attention. You should probably get it replaced.
I charge it on Wednesday night and Sunday night. I have forgotten to charge it on Wednesday and had it warn me on friday morning and go dead by Friday Night. So, I guess I am getting at least 4 days out of it.
weve been on dex since jan and our receiver still lasts around 5 to 6 days, we let it drain down to practically nothing then put it on for a full charge ( my dad engineer told me to charge it this way)
our transmitter did crap out however last week after three months, they over nighted us a new one but since it happened on a friday we had to go three days until receiving it on tuesday, hard to go without!!
I had previously been getting almost a week and it seems shorter now like 4 days. I think I will try letting it go down to almost nothing a few times and see if that makes a difference. I always get confused as to which batteries you can recharge daily and which ones need to be periodically fully discharged. In general I find that no rechargeable devices last all that long and that is one reason I’m not thrilled with more and more of our medical devices being rechargeable. Give me a AAA battery anytime.
I haven't noticed any battery degradation in six months of use. Not making it even a single day on a full charge is certainly a problem. I think I get 4 or 5 days but I don't even think about it since I'm always right next to a micro USB charger (desk, car, bedside). It's far better than the awful proprietary 7+ charger.
