I’ve been using smartwatches for several years and having Android phones opt for watches running Wear OS, so I can see my numbers on the watch. Google has recently released a major upgrade to Wear OS 3, soon to be 3.5, and Samsung is the best of the bunch. My current watch, a Fossil Gen 5, is showing signs of age and can’t be upgraded, so I’m thinking of buying a new one with the newer OS.
I know that there are other ways of having glucose numbers on the watch, but my first choice is to use the simplest setup. That said, is anyone using a watch with Wear OS 3 and the Dexcom app? If so, how are you running it?
Thanks for posting, since it clears up the most important issue for me, getting Dexcom on my new watch, although I am thinking of getting a Samsung 5, but my sense is that it should be the same.
Excellent question I am wondering the same and have been trying to find out if the new Samsung watch 5 is viable. I use a Dexcom G6 and I have a Fossil Gen 4 that’s getting long in the tooth and am looking at the Samsung Galaxy watch 5. If I pre-order before Aug 28 they allow for a $125 trade in for my Fossil watch (and many other watches). The watch 5 uses Wear OS 3.5 and the Watch 4 uses wear OS 3.0. Does anyone think the Dexcom app can be side loaded on the watch 5 as well from and S21 Ultra phone?
I received my Samsung Watch5 yesterday and implemented the above hack and I can confirm that the Dexcom G6 watch face does indeed work great on my new Watch5.
