Areas people use for sites

I can’t seem to find any information-- I use my arms for sites (because my stomach is being taken over by scar tissue) and was wondering where else people use for the sensor locations (I could care less if people see it, cause, well tough for them!)

Thanks!

I use my arms, legs (inner, outer, and straight on) and my back (love handle area). I get my best results anywhere but my stomach. My last sensor I had on my arm lasted 29 days and matched my meter the whole time. I want to try my calf too but haven’t got the nerve yet. I think some people have used their butt but I haven’t figured out a good spot there.

Legs and arms are my favorite, If I use my legs and go inside or outside I still have room to use it as a Pod site at the same time.

Do you need assistance to place a sensor on your arm?

I prefer my arms - if you place it so the sensor wire goes in facing your elbow and the rest sticks above it (the end of the applicator is pointing toward your shoulder), you can even place t high enough that most shirt sleeves will cover it. I get much longer life out of arm sites than stomach sites. It is also easy to do one handed - the hardest part is getting the applicator off once the whole process is over. I sometimes squeeze the sides and “bump” the applicator against the wall and it falls off.

I haven’t tried a leg site yet - I wear my jeans a little tight in the thigh area and I’m afraid the fabric will rub too much. Lower back sites are fine unless you spend a lot of time sitting (same with upper butt sites) because they tend to rub on the chair or car seat, etc which results in a lot of ???

I hate to experiment too much with sensors because they are so exspensive but I always get two weeks out of an arm site so I consider the next sensor a free one and experiment with that one. Good luck!

The arms had muscles, will you get sore muscles? Having the Dex for 7 days!?

You need to aim for the fattier part on the middle/upper back of the arm. I would assume that very lean people might have problems with muscles but I don’t.

I like the area between my hip bone and bottom rib, on my side (at waist level). It allows me to sleep on my stomach, back, or side (it helps if you’re a lady–with hips) without putting pressure on the sensor (which can cause readings to go nutty overnight because it affects the normal flow of the interstitial fluid). I alternate between left side and right and move it slightly higher, lower,or towards the front or back (slightly).

I tried my arm but unless you have a certain amount of flesh over your arm muscles, it’s kind of “pokey” and not very comfortable, in my experiene.

I only use my stomach as I am a tosser turner for sleep and arms and legs wont work for me. So I just stick with my stomach

Inner thigh is great, but if you use pockets to stash receiver, etc. just make sure that they don’t interfere with site as they can cause it to loosen faster.
