I have always put my sensor on my stomach. What are your favorite spots? I’ve wanted to try my arm or my thigh but I’m scared that it will hurt really bad. Do I have to have a certain amount of skin/fat where I decide to put my sensor? Are different places more accurate?
I don’t like anything on my stomach - the area just seems to get too sensitive for me. That said, I generally put my sensors on the side of my chest, sometimes nearer, sometimes farther away from my armpit. I do have to be careful that the area is stretched when I press the tape down - for got to do that once and got a nasty “burn” when the tape pulled at the stretching skin. As to the amount of skin or fat - I really have not seen much of a difference in performance between having it on a spot that is more lean or more fatty. It seems to work well for me either way. Same with horizontal or vertical - I position it so it’ll be out of the way of movement in whatever area it is. I tried my arm only once, but kept banking it into doorways – I may try again at some point, but have ben using my arms for infusion sites a lot (seems more comfortable to me there). I have NOT felt any real pain inserting a sensor anywhere that I have tried - the needle looks big but is small enough to be virtually painless (half the time I really don’t even feel it!).
I’ve never put a Dex sensor in my stomach - just hate having it there. Outside of upper thighs, back of arms, back of calves.
Mostly use the back of my arms. Seems more accurate then my stomach.
For me it’s always on my stomach, but only at two specific places on my stomach: 6" directly to the left or right of my belly button.
Too far towards the middle and I can’t sleep on my stomach.
Too low and things like my seatbelt and waistband get in the way
Too high and it looks like I’m carrying an extra 10lbs in my midsection.
Can’t say I’ve tried it on my arms just yet, but I worry that having big(ger) arms/lats will make it uncomfortable.
Back of calves is interesting. I’m a cyclist (though not so much this fall winter ) with fairly developed calf muscles as a result – I wonder how well it would work there. Seems like it might otherwise be a comfortable option, though.
