Recently had cause to use baqsimi nasal powder for a severe low. The baqsimi worked as advertised but there seems to be a longer-term effect in that her blood sugar is going in to the high 200’s right after her dinner meal after starting at 66. This is highly unusual for her. It has only been one day since it was administered but has anyone who has used baqsimi seen any residual effects? The documentation says that it should dissipate in the system after about 90 minutes but she may be experiencing a longer-term effect.
I’d certainly report that to the endo. We only learn about side effects when enough of them are reported (to the CDC, the NHS etc.)
One thing that I think can happen is that the liver glycogen levels can be depleted at which point glucagon becomes very much less effective. That happens with starvation but presumably it is also an inevitable side effect of baqsimi and glucagon in general.
The other thing is that if your wife still has enough insulin production capability she most likely will still have a 1st stage postprandial response (not having one is one of the many many causes of T2). The glucagon might have a side effect of suppressing that.
This is why it is so important to report these things; we just don’t know, or maybe we do but no one told us!
