Anyone having problems refilling their test strips? I'm using the discount card that they sent to us with the meter and I'm filling my prescription every month at my local pharmacy. When I went to pick up my test strips they said that my prescription was getting filled too early. Oh, really? It's two days left in the month and I'm early? So, the next time I filled it I waited the full month and again I was told I was filling it too early. Luckily, I still have some text strips from my old meter.
I just got mine today from Medtronic. Not sure how I'm going to like it over my One Touch. I've used One Touch for years. Nothing stopping me from continuing to, but just the next pump I get will have to manually enter those bg readings. We'll see. Sorry I get all my strips from Liberty. So I can't answer you regarding the strips. How are you liking the Bayer Contour Next so far, other than the issues with getting your strips refilled? Not sure I like the idea of having to plug it up to charge it, LOL just ONE more thing to keep up with on battery life. Think I'm going to keep my One Touch delica, the lancet device is ok, but kinda bulky.
I was just wondering about this! I just got the meter that they sent me with my new pump and I love it! But I was wondering about how easy the strips were to fill. And how much more expensive they'll be if my insurance doesn't cover them.. It stinks that insurance companies don't allow you to choose the meter/test strips of your choice and only cover 1 or 2 brands. I hate the meters whose test strips are covered..
I LOVE this new meter! It's small, it talks to my pump, if you underfill the strip you don't have to throw it away, you just add more blood, it has a backlight, it's in color. That's a few things that I like about it.
If you use the discount card that comes with with meter, you pay $15 a month IF USED at a local pharmacy. And, the discount card is good for one year. After the year is up I'll have to start paying a higher tier than I did with my One Touch test strips. My insurance (Aetna) did send me a letter saying that I can still use my One Touch strips if I choose to.
Lizard, the very first time I filled my Test Strips with the discount card I had absolutely no problems. But, I have had problems lately with them telling me I'm filling too early. The Pharmacy Tech gave someone a call (not sure who) but, hopefully, they solved that issue. I'll know next month when I go for another refill. I'm saving $35 a month using this card so, I suppose a little inconvenience won't hurt.
My strips are covered under my DME, and not my prescription. So I have no choice but to get them through Liberty, that is who we are contracted with for pumps, supplies, testing strips. But they have been really great to work with. I have no idea if there is a teir on my strips since its under my DME benefits Guess I'll find out. I do like that you don't waste strips by having to toss them for not enough blood. That can be a big help if you are like me and the fingers just don't give it up.
