Beyond Levemir

Although my 2025 BC/BS brochure shows Levemir as being available at a tier 2 cost, I know that won’t be the case. I’m disappointed because I liked the Levemir (found it to be better for me than Lantus). I would like feedback from those familiar with Levemir and who have already made the switch to Tresiba (Degludec) or Toujeo (both at a tier 3 cost) and your experience in regards to dosing.

I’ve used Levemir and currently use Tresiba. I split them once at bedtime and once upon waking.

When switching basals you can always start cautiously at 75/80% of your prior basal dose ( 75-80% of your Levemir dose in your case ) and adjust as needed.

Tresiba lasts longer than Levemir in my experience even when splitting.

Levemir gave me good coverage at night and throughout the day but began to fade mid to late evening.

Tresiba seems to have room for error for example if you wake up later or give it later than normal not much gap in coverage.
