Switching from levemir to Toujeo

I’m switching from Levemir to Toujeo. No more split doses. I hear that I’ll have less unexpected lows. Any good experience switching to Toujeo? Advice?

I switched from lantus to toujeo a few months ago and have seen an amazing change for the better!! Good Luck!

I also switched from Lantus to Toujeo. It’s been well over a year and I still love it! You are are right, no spilt doses or unexpected late night lows. It did take a bit to get the optimum dose. I sure hope you have the same results.

I switched from Levemir to Toujeo on January 9th. I absolutely love the fact that it is truly 24 hours. I no longer have to take any fast acting throughout the day and only need between 2 and 3 units of Humalog for dinner. Granted, my diet is very restrictive but the Toujeo resolved the liver dumps in the morning or lack of food on days when I don’t eat until the late evening. BGs have not been higher than 100. During the day, I have had a couple lows but all I need is a little V8 juice and maybe 3 mini pretzels to correct. By the time I get home, BG is anywhere from 70 to 90. Awesome!! Oh, it also helps with corrections if you happen to over do it with a low. So far, I love it!

Is Trejuo better than tresiba for Lada Type 1?

I hear lots of positives for Tresiba as well. My doctor had initially said Tresiba is more for those that had used larger doses of long acting however, it is supposed to last up to I think 36 hours and you don’t need to be very time vigilant when taking it. Toujeo is 24 hours and my doctor’s other concern was with my low doses, he didn’t want there to be the higher risk of lows using the more concentrated version of Tresiba.

There are many many positive reviews of Tresiba though. I may go back and ask the doctor to let me try it for a few weeks. If I can go a day and a half without the fast acting, it would be like a mini vacation from T1D :slight_smile:
