So I’m eligible for an iPhone upgrade (currently using a 5) and am wondering how the Dex CGM app will work with the iPhone 7 now that the headphones are wireless. Maybe it’s a non-issue but I figured I’d check in with all the TuD tech-savvy members on this!
I’m looking at upgrading from 5 to 7 shortly myself, but I don’t anticipate any problem. I use Bluetooth headphones with my iPhone 5 along with the Dex 5 app, and I wouldn’t expect it to be significantly different. The one thing about BT in general is that it is possible for the available channels to get saturated, causing dropouts. For whatever reason this never seems to be a problem for my headphones but I do get dropouts with my CGM. May have to do with the strength of the CGM transmitter. When I’ve spoken to tech support at Dexcom they say this is something they’re working on.
It works exaclty the same on the IPhone 5 as it does on the IPhone 7. Absolutely no issue.
I’ve used my Dexcom G5 on an iPhone 5, two 6s, and my current 7 plus. No issues with the phone itself. I occasionally encounter small issues after software updates, but that’s always been the case with every phone.
Note: I run 30-60 minutes every morning with bluetooth headphones and never had Dexcom signal loss issues.
