Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

I wear an omnipod and have done martial arts for years, with very few issues. Stand up fighting is no problem, but I really want to start grappling and figure out where I could put the pod where it won't get ripped off, or what kind of covering to put over it. Any ideas?

I just got back into BJJ a few months ago after taking many many years off. Since then, I've tried a ton of different wraps, covers, and tapes to try to keep the pod from coming off during training.

For me, sweating is actually a bigger problem than having the pod torn off on accident. The more tape, and wraps, and whaterver I used, the more I'd sweat underneath the covering, whch resulted in the pod just falling off .

So, when i'm grappling, I'll use a couple of strips of Optiflex which I've found to be really resistant to sweat and pretty robust when it comes to being tugged on. The best places for me seems to be the lower back or upper arm. I always tell whoever I'm grappling with to be a bit careful when it comes to grabbing at those areas. Since I'm not doing anything at the competitive level, I'm just really careful, I'll ask to reposition if I think I'm going to lose a pod and I'm not shy about tapping out to save a pod.

I've had the Omnipod adhesive fail many many times due to the amount of sweating I do, but the Optiflex does a really good job of keeping the pod stuck on my skin long enough to get to the next pod change. I don't generally train every day, so I'm not dealing with it too much.

I have lost a couple of pods since restarting, but nothing more than I would probably lose to an occlusion or priming error, or whatever. For me, it's worth it.

Godo luck!

Thanks for the help! I will look for the Optiflex and give that a try

Np, quick correction though...
