Hey…for the past couple of weeks I have noticed a rush or break out on my stomach. It seems to be all over. It started before I got my pump so I know it’s not the pump that’s causing the reaction. I have been on the same insulin for a while. I’m wondering what could it be? Any ideas?
Hi Jazz. One possibility for a rash is a reaction to gluten, which is found in wheat, rye, and barley. Celiac disease often occurs in people with diabetes; the rash is called Dermatitis Herpetiformis. There are tests for celiac or gluten non-tolerance; also your doctor could possibly identify the rash. IF that is the cause of the rash, a gluten free diet is the only cure. I have celiac–it’s a really big nuisance, but manageable.
Thanks! I go to the doc on April 1st so I will definitely bring this to his attention along with another problem I’m having.
