Hello
I am a researcher at Brown University working with a research group that is investigating the appeal, usability, and potential effectiveness of Jerry the Bear (https://www.jerrythebear.com/), an interactive and supportive toy, for children aged 5-9 with Type 1 Diabetes and their families.
The project has been approved by Brown University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), is funded by an Innovation Voucher from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, and is a collaboration with the Rhode Island company Sproutel (https://www.sproutel.com/).
The study involves two visits to Brown University’s main campus for the child and parent to answer survey questions, play with Jerry the Bear, and have an opportunity to take Jerry the Bear home. In return for their participation, children will get to keep Jerry the Bear and a mobile tablet along with a $30 Amazon gift card.
Parents can email jerrythebearstudy@gmail.com for more information and to sign up to participate in the study. Parents can also email if there are any questions, comments, or concerns.
Kindest Regards,
Iman, Research Assistant
