In a couple of week I should be on a pump for the first time.
I now do injections. I use a small camera case to hold my juice, granola bars, insulin penlet, penlet needles, swabs, syringes, meter and other “stuff”. I’m a guy who don’t feel comfortable leaving the house without my “stuff” Had a few close calls. It scares me.
I was hoping to eliminate most of the “stuff” when on a pump. Will I need to carry more items than mentioned above? Will I need a larger case? I am planing to wait until after the training to decide. Right now I am clueless. How do you pumpers out there deal with all your “stuff”. The women have it made because of the purses they carry around. Help me out guys.
Thanks, Sid
Wow I’ve been on my pump for about a month now and you make me feel very unprepared I leave the house with my meter, test strips, some skittles and a spare infusion set is always in my car. I think it all depends on how prepared you really want to be. Technically on the pump as long as you have the pump attached, have your meter and something to treat a low, you’ll be good in a typical situation. If something does go wrong, however, you’re going to want an extra infusion set (in case you pull one out on accident or the canula gets bent and you have to change it). I keep one in my glove box because wherever I am, my car is. I think some pumpers carry around insulin as well but unless you let your pump run completely out I’m not sure why you would need this. I’m a girl but purses are not my style so I know how you feel! I’ll be interested to see other responses to this because I’m sure I’m forgetting to bring something along! Anyway good luck with your pump. I LOVE it. Which one did you choose?

Sid,
I have quick fix keychain to carry less. I have found that there are many cases out there and finding one that works for you may take some time. I am a big fan of the daymate deluxe for pens. I have seen other sites with all kinds of accessory packs and cases. Check out http://stickmedesigns.com/shop/index.php and http://www.dittibags.com/
the above sites may help point you in the right direction as well as http://www.mykpp.com/
Hi Sid!
Here are a few discussions for ideas-- and to know that you are not alone!
