COBRA INFO...especially in California

I just got laid off by my company and they offered me COBRA.

For the most part I am not sad I am gone from the company. This gives me a chance to reinvent myself and try to bigger and better things. So please don't feel sorry because I am not. :)

Of course what scares me the most is the last time I was unemployed I was not diabetic but now I am. I have faith I will find a job in the future but I am worried about my health costs.

I have my current insurance till the end of the month. I plan to ask my Endo to give me all new prescriptions so I can get all of them under my insurance pricing. Is there anything else I could be doing with my grace period?

I understand on the surface what COBRA is but I never had to use it. I know at one time it was suppose to be very expensive. I remember hearing the pricing had but discounted is this still in affect? When I receive my paperwork for COBRA is there anything I should look for in particular? I live in California are there any state agencies or otherwise I could sign up with or contact about getting supplies and such?

Thanks!

Part of the stimulus package is an extension of a subsidy of your COBRA coverage. One of our co-workers did pretty well on our insurance through COBRA for a couple hundred a month. The coverage is for like 18 months or something like that. Don’t let your insurance expire, make sure you’re locked in for COBRA.

that extension is over

Individuals who are eligible for COBRA coverage because of their own or a family member’s involuntary termination from employment that occurred during the period from September 1, 2008 through May 31, 2010 I dont think they extended this option

Thanks that should be very soon!

Finding a permanent job is going to be hard. I hate to go on the temp company insurance plan. I figure most of it is not as good. I will try!

I don’t think I qualify but I plan to call them tomorrow. Maybe there is a loop hole.

The official reduction in COBARA payments is over. So I will have to pay full price. The government thinks the recession is over.

Does anybody know of any agencies I can contact in California about getting supplies???

Try these:

Just go to yahoo or google free presriptions, there are quite a few agencies that will help you out for FREE…

Thank you so much.

I like to talk to the birdbrain academics that said the recession is over. I rather thought my job was safe because I worked the night shift but they finally made a decision. I am happy and I don’t regret being let go. I just think this is a time for me to reinvent myself. Find something that I like or at least find a job that will make me happy. my career was going no where there. My supervisor knew I wanted more than she could give me.
