Coconut Oil and Diabetes

Coconut oil is great… It largely consists of lauric acid, which is a medium chain fatty acid that is easily used by your cells. All your cells need quality fats, so coconut oil will help the body with a whole lot of things. Sally Fallon wrote a book about how coconut oil is good for weight loss, and Bruce Fife’s Coconut Oil Miracle suggests that it is good for the heart, the skin, weight loss, the hair, and other things. Eat coconut oil! Unrefined, virgin coconut oil (pure means nothing; it’s a marketing gimmick). Try Nutiva (available at iherb.com).

The fact that it is saturated is actually a good thing (mind you, there can be good and bad saturated fats, just as there can be good and bad polyunsaturated fats). Saturated fats are solid at room temperature because their molecular structure is, in fact, more solid. This means that they are less likely to break down under heat, making coconut oil (or ghee, or butter, or lard, or red palm oil) ideal cooking oils. Olive oil, you shouldn’t heat higher than medium. Other vegetable oils (soy, corn, canola, etc) are garbage–they often go rancid during processing, and must undergo a “deodorificaiton” process to remove the stench of rancidity before sale. It makes sense; these polyunsaturated oils have molecular structures that are naturally prone to breaking down. That’s just one of the reasons you should avoid processed vegetable oils and choose unprocessed coconut oil and olive oil.

Oh, let me disclaim that coconut oil will certainly not do anything miraculous for anyone’s diabetes. It’s just one piece of the puzzle, and everyone’s puzzle is different. If your cellular membranes are weak in structure you’ll have an increased need for quality oils like coconut oil. If your body has been having trouble dealing with high amounts of rancid fats, coconut and other quality oils will help you. Everyone’s needs are different.

Has your gynecologist recommended a removal of your uterus?

For nearly a decade I dealt with worsening irregular cycles and extremely heavy bleeding, causing weakness and lethargy. Longest bleeding episodes lasted for months, with up-and-down flow, never completely stopping. On the worst days I couldn’t work, so I was absent way too often. I thank God for a great work team and manager!

After hormone therapies and endometrial tissue ablations - none of which worked for very long or very well - a hysterectomy was recommended. I refused for various reasons. Ultimately, a new gynecologist recommended that he personally look inside my body without making a huge incision or cutting muscles and tendons. While I was under anesthesia, he made a small incision in my lower abdomen, slid in a laparoscope to take a look, puffed-in some air for working space, and took photos. During my follow-up visit he showed me the photos. The uterus was 3 TIMES ITS NORMAL SIZE due to being bloated with fibroid tumors (non-cancerous). Since I already had two precious children (in my late teens & early 20s) and wasn’t wanting more, my response was, “Get that thing out of me!!” It looked like aliens had invaded! At age 40, I had only the uterus removed - ovaries were left for hormonal support. I’m so glad I did it!

I hope all that helps you know you’re not alone, and pray that you find a remedy so you don’t continue to suffer the ordeal. May God bless and strengthen you!

Sam, EXCELLENT input! Many Thanks.

hehe, one of my cats like coconut oil. I gave her some once because I read that it can benefits cats skin (one has some kitty dandruff). Now when I open the jar to put some on my skin, one of the cats sit there hoping I’ll drop a blob and than she can lick it off the ground. Her fur is super shiney and soft and she is 13.

I know you were talking about coconut OIL originally, but I have found Coconut Flour to be an excellent High fiber, low carbohydrate alternative to wheat. We make blueberry coconut flour pancakes for breakfast and top them with a bit of cottage cheese and it’s like eating a delicious blueberry strudel with 100 fiber for carbs.

Thanks! I normally take information from “holistic” site very sparingly for the same reasons. if it was such a wonderful antidote then hasn’t modern science and pharm companies tried to mass produce it? I am desperate to try anything to stop the bleeding right now.

I am still of childbearing age and hope to have a child with in the next 2-3 years. This is the only reason why I am suffering with this. thanks. I mentioned earlier that I had 2 lbs of fibroid removed 2 years ago.

I hope you find something. What “cured” mine was getting old.

While writing you I was in the hospital getting a transfusion because of the blood loss… I am home now but still a little dizzy. While in the hospital they gave me an antibiotic and an estrogen mixture that I received 6 times. I am hoping this “mixture” does the trick till the next round of injections… thx.

What exactly is the supposed benefit? What double blind studies support incorporating it? Can they point you to reputable, peer reviewed articles that incorporate a risk/benefit analysis? Or is this third hand “internet wisdom?”

So sorry!
