Contact Detach Infusion Sets

Hi all

I am going to place an order with Animas today and had a question: I have been using the 6mm Contact Detaches and when I use them on my arm I've had them occasionally pull out when I was getting dressed. I don't use any kind of tape as I have no sticking problems, so I think it's just the arm movement. Does the 8mm make it less likely for this to happen? Does the 8mm cause any other problems? (Seems with sets it's always get something/lose something!) Thanks.

The first time I tried contact-detach sets I used the 8mm ones and had a lot of problems with bleeding (and the tape sticking). Now I've switched to the 6mm ones and, although I still sometimes get bleeding, it's not near as bad as it used to be, although I still have problems with the tape sticking.

If your set is being pulled out by arm movement, it sounds like the tape isn't sticking as well as it should for you, either.

Thanks, Jen. I never had problems with sticking with the plastic sets; isn't the tape the same? I wonder if it is my arms, as I've never used them before, either more movement or the skin is more subject to unsticking.I know a lot of people have sticking problems, but I never have so the sticky stuff is one thing I've never had to buy. (I now have the dislodged set stuck on with bandaids!)

But you answered my question, that it is not the short length of the needle that causes dislodging and I may as well stick with the 6mm not to have more bleeding.

maybe silly question on my part ?? is the skin clean ?? ...I use Sure-t's 8 mm and sanitize with soap and water ...I don't use any other method . I do tape infusion set with IV3000 for security ..it has served me well .

Thanks, nel. I've never bothered washing the spot before putting an infusion set in though I do use alcohol preps.

I don't think it's the same tape; I never had problems with the Comfort sets sticking, although found the tape created irritation. With the CD sets, the tape doesn't cause much, if any, irritation and it also doesn't stick at all. At the end of two days the sets basically just fall out with very little effort.
