OK, Let’s get straight! I have not been seen by 1 Endo, I am a US Veteran. I am under the care of a team of endo’s, and whole mess of Dr.s. I started out type 1, then they called me LADA for 6 mos. and now They (notice the they!) told me when I asked if I maybe brittle because of all this. The DR. laughed and said “Brittle? You aren’t even diabetic.” I will tell you now you could of knocked me over with a light breeze!!! My replay was “Excuse me???” That is when he explained by Medical Standards I barely make Pre-diabetes. My next statement was "When I was dx’ed, after a year I had decided, well I am 99.99% sure this is for the rest of my life and went and got a tattoo (avatar!). The Dr. then said “Well you fooled us (again notice the us)” Mr. .001%. I thought everybody would be excited!? How often does this happen??? The VA wants to study me!!! ME!!! because they want to see if they can figure out what happened to me??? Why??? The Dr. told me at that time it was to study my immune system to see if I something in me that will help toward a cure!!! Oh, by the way of course when they ask if would enroll, I said yes without out question!!! Believe what you want till someone shows me at least 4 endo special Dr.s diploma’s I am standing by my TEAM of Dr.'s!!! I will say again I am in remission, being monitored closely by not 1 Dr. but a team of!!! One last note, Today I ate completely normal, bread, candy, mac and cheese 2 servings!! and never saw on my meter any higher than 138 after the mac and cheese! that was my highest today, all other’s were 78, 97, 108, fasting this morning was 120, sound diabetic??? Oh, almost forgot what got me to the last Dr. appt., you’re going to love this, low blood sugar!!! I got worried because when I forget to eat my bs drops! Now I have to eat regular or I get shaky and weak!! I was also told my 70’s aren’t lows, My bad!!
Keith, first of all, thank you for your service to our country.
It sounds like you have a good team of endos at the VA studying you. Please keep us informed of what develops. I hope you’re able to control your low blood sugar now.
Have a great week!
