I use Discount RX Mart to order my Fiasp.
You get discounts as you buy more.
So, one vial may be $82 each, but 9 vials are $53 each.
Also, after shipping 9 vials, it is around $499 total.
And seeing as I am over 200 miles to the Canadian border, the fuel savings are worth it.
Just remember, You will need one of the following travel documents:
A Passport, Passport Card, Enhanced Driver License, Enhanced ID Card (EDL/ID) or NEXUS Card is REQUIRED to cross the U.S./Canadian border by land and sea.
A Passport is required for air travel. A Passport Card or EDL/ID are NOT valid for air travel.
passports are required for CAnada
Does anyone else buy Novilin R at Walmart for $25 vial?
As @Jimi63 mentions, passport required for air travel, not entry by car.
i heard you say that beforeā¦ i understand it changed a few years ago crossing borders by carā¦ my personal experience is you better bring it or they use not having one against youā¦
hereās what the ca.gov site says:
" Entry into Canada: Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens."
Yep, I keep it as backup or for when by BG is being really stubborn.
The trip was on the PBS Newshour tonight.
Oh wow, what a story! Thank you for sharing, @taitaitai
CBS Morning did a similar story last week. Thanks for the link.
Canāt figure out how to PM. Iām curious what you pay. I am running out of Humalog and am planning to go there next week. Thanks!
Hi Goodie1120 - First of all a warm welcome to our community, thank you so much for joining. Humalog comes in different 3 different containers. Vials, Cartridges, Prefilled Pens.
Regardless of which one you use, it is about 10% of the list cost in the US. I use the cartridges to re-fill my digital pen and a package of 5 cartridges cost about $48 on my last trip. I believe a box of 5 pens costs about $10 more and I donāt use vials but if that is what you use, others on this site can help you out on cost.
Tips
-
You need a passport to go to Canada now.
-
Do not buy your insulin in US $. If you do not have CAD cash, use a charge card preferably with no foreign transaction fee as there is a big spread in value between the USD and CAD and pharmacies typically only offer to take USD at par value with CAD
-
Call the pharmacy and place an order in advance unless you will need very little. I buy $800-$1000 at a time and most pharmacies do not stock that much but will be happy to order it for you. They will probably ask for a credit card to guarantee payment for an order that large. You can Google for pharmacies in the towns/cities you will visit.
-
Bring a copy of your US prescription. You do not need a copy of your prescription to purchase in Canada but the US theoretically requires you to have a copy for personal import into the US. I have never been asked for the prescription, but that is the law. According to the law, you may only bring back a 90 supply but since you have no precise idea how much you will use in the next 90 days, have your doctor write a prescription for 3-4 times what you normally use to make sure you are covered for your entire purchase.
-
Bring a cooler like an āIglooā cooler and fill part way with ice packs to keep your insulin cool for your whole trip.

I have uploaded the US law below and highlighted the salient points in yellow. If you need more information, just ask and again, welcome to our community

Thanks so much! I actually live in VT so I can cross the border with my enhanced license. I only need to purchase 2 weeks worth but Iāll be seeing my Endo before I go so Iāll get a copy of the prescription. Diabetes and menopause have not been friendly and my insulin need has increased so Iāve run short this quarter. My insurance may actually agree to provide more for me but I have to wait for my case to be reviewed. Iād rather have everything in place in the event that itās denied than scramble to pull it all together at the last minute.
Thank you so much for sharing this information! I do believe that, regardless to my immediate insulin needs, weāll be traveling to Stanstead to buy insulin so Iāll have extra on hand should I find myself in this situation again.
re: Humalog. I live in Calgary (Canada) and a vial of Humalog costs about $36 Canadian here. Iād pick up a half dozen or more.
Thanks!
I use:

They are very friendly and only a few hundred feet from the US border into Stanstead and pay with AMEX
Thanks! Thatās where we were planning to go. I think afte weāll go spend the day in Sherbrooke.
As Americans can we just walk into any pharmacy in Canada and ask for the insulin we need and get it without a prescription? Iāve seen a lot of talk about these caravans and people doing this but very little in the details of what you can get and how to get it.
I thought I had it all pretty well spelled out in post #32 above. If there is anything that is not perfectly clear or you need additional information, I would be happy to provide as I do physically buy all my insulin in Canada and bring it back into the US, The post #32 not only gives what I believe is all the details but a copy of the US laws as well.
You may NEED the prescription to bring insulin BACK INTO the USA, even if?? you get it in Canada w/o it.
or run a high
Risk of US confiscating your insulin at the US boarder!
