Vancouver businessman Kyle Balagno promised his daughter Taylor he would do everything in his power to help find a cure for her juvenile (type one) diabetes before her 18th birthday. He had 6 years. That commitment spawned the Cyclebetes series of events.

Hey everyone, I would like you all to know about this event that is taking place here in Canada late this summer and one that I am glad to be a part of. I am taking part for my son Connor. Connor was diagnosed with Type 1 at 2 1/2 yrs. old on a Thanksgiving weekend. Not exactly something to be thankful for but I am thankful that it was caught in time and my wife and I now have the tools to care for him and show him how to look after himself through being active and eating healthy. It has been almost three years now and it is part of a normal routine for us to check his BS and give him his insulin. This is a routine I want to break. I cannot wait for the day when a cure is found and I will do what I can to help find a cure for Diabetes for my son and for everyone who has Diabetes.
