Just in case anyone is intrested here a link with some info

It was a neutral question. Why take out your anger on Christalyn? Even an opponent of this bill could be ‘on pins and needles’ waiting for the outcome.

Maybe you’re mistaking ‘pins and needles’ for ‘giddy’? Not the same thing.

Terry

It is now official… Health Care Reform has passed… :)))

As a Canadian …my observation I pray , what ever is the outcome …let all folks in your US of A benefit one way or the other …I was just watching the Paralympic closing games in Whistler , while the Debate is going on …and get the feel of someone born without legs, without an arm become " our Golden Girl " ( she lives in MY province !!) …5 gold medals  …she did not give up ; she moved forward !!

Health Care Reform has passed… 219 vs. 212 votes.

This bill is not likely to directly affect me or my healthcare insurance. I currently have insurance provided by my employer - in other words, government subsidized insurance. I don’t pay taxes on it and my employer deducts the costs from its income. It’s also carefully rationed - by the insurance company. I don’t believe this situation will change under the current bill.

  1. I have not read it.
  2. It will prevent denial of coverage based upon a pre-existing condition of diabetes. I don’t know if it will still allow the insurance company to cover everything EXCEPT the pre-existing condition.
  3. Yes.
  4. No. Because I’m confused. I go back and forth.

On the one hand, I want to see the government step in and spend MY MONEY doing something good for it’s own citizen’s rather then spending MY MONEY invading countries that never attacked us. Like Iraq, for instance. I’m a middle class taxpayer and I AM PISSED that my gummint wastes MY MONEY and the LIVES of my FELLOW CITIZENS in an a military adventure, but somehow thinks providing health care at home is too expensive. On the other hand, not that it does get around to doing something, it turns into a massive give away to the insurance companies.

Still, I am shallow enough to say that I’d rather see this bill pass than hear the Republicans, Tea Baggers, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck gloat for the next three years.

Terry

Thanks for a reasonable, articulate, non-inflammatory, rational explanation, Jackie.

God Bless,
Brunetta

I am glad it passed!!! and, TERRY, I agree with you on the point of the govenrnement spending OUR MONEY on unwarranted mlitary expeditions that killed our own US citizens and many more…

I will not even bother to legitimize the far-right-foul-mouth-fanatics as the Tea Baggers and the MEDIA MONSTERS with a comment. I can only pray for their redemption. I am far too blessd to be stressed!!!
God Bless,
Brunetta

Ha! Love that last part. Maybe Rush can cloak himself tomorrow in his black outfit he wore to that CPAC convention for the funeral.

Here, Here! Well said!

I will never have my AMerican Dream until I have insurance that covers my Diabetes. I will never have a high enough credit score, enough money in my bank account, enough insulin in my fridge, not until I have healthcare that costs me less than $10,000 a year.
When I no longer have to spend hours a week on scanning recipts, getting doctors notes, haggling with Insulet, Eli Lilly and my insurance company, it will be a happy day.

I don’t expect anything for free, but if I had the income to pay the extra taxes so that uninsured people can get the healtcare they deserve (and are afforded in almost every other country on the planet)

the $110 per vial of insulin I pay, the full dollar I spend on each test strip, that money goes to pharm. companies, companies that don’t need it.

I am the one paying for this sh*t. Will the tax increase for you sum up to the amount I spend a year on keeping myself alive?
I don’t think so.

Excuse me… but I do support health care for everyone who needs it/ wants it, but I do not agree with the way we’re going about it. At the moment, I do not have a better option/different idea. Please… there is no need for name-calling. We’re all people who are entitled to our opinions. I understand that you were not directly attacking me, but I feel upset anyway.

Regardless of your position about the healthcare reform bill, we want to ask everyone to make sure to keep the discussion on topic and avoid any kind of personal exchanges or name-calling. Failure to do so will unfortunately result (like most political topics in the past) in the topic getting close to further comments.

We have created a group expressly to channel discussions about this topic, which we invite all those interested in it to join and participate in:

Attention all diabetics. Please see Tom before posting here to make sure you have the proper diabetic opinion. Since we all have the same disease, we should also have the same minds, thoughts and opinions. If you’re unsure what opinion you are supposed to have . . . ask above.

You’ve been warned.

Terry

let me guess you have already got kicked out?

Thank you Terry!!

Terry …I don’t understand this statement or the joke, if any ?! …is your comment meant to be just that or ??..I hate to be classified as a " dumb , not understanding what this is all about Canadian " , so I ask you

I do wish you well Phill. We are both passionate about what we believe and that is part of what make where we live so special.

My hope now is that you are able to get the care you deserve, for both you and your mom.

Everyone thinks I am against this plan yes and no. Yes to the idea and no to the bill itself. This is something we need along with other things in the USA. The bottom line is who will profit as if there is no one then it will not get anywhere if it is the government it will create some jobs in the future. As far as me we shall see what happens as I do not qualify for any assistance until late August this year I will see the doctor tomorrow as that will be paid for by insurance. But they will not cover any of the med’s I take and I will see what I can do on this one. In my area there are some agencies that can help but if you have any insurance you do not qualify. This is where I currently will fall in the cracks and if need be I will collect cans to get the job done never been a quitter and not about to start now. So now we await the effects of the plan which will take about 8 years to know any real data on it.

I have read the whole bill, and every other addendum that they have published–but there is a lot of back room deals and promises that are not in writing

I will most likely loose the extremely good healthcare I have at work, that I took a less paying job to get better benefits for in the first place; because my employer and the insurance co are going to be penalized for offering a “cadalac plan”…–and I get to pay more taxes for way less coverage than what I have now. The ninsurance companies will probably quit offering them and employers won’t be willing to pay for them–sucks rocks big time

I was rightly afraid they’d have enough to pass it

My congresseprson thinks anyone who does not agree with him is uneducated/stupid/unamerican (from his lips–I live in Nevada) and unfortunately I have voted for the idiot in the past (not the last election) before he became a party hack–when he really represented ALL the people of Nevada–long time past seen unfortunetely
