I have not yet gotten any information back from an email inquiry to Dexcom. I am curious to know what happens if the receiver is in your purse and you walk away from it, thus going out of range, losing contact. Then, when you come back near your purse (holding the receiver) do you automatically come back into range again? Or do you have to program the receiver? I would like to know if the receiver makes a noise when you go out of range. And how long it takes to come back into range when you come closer to your purse again. I think my niece could carry the Receiver in her purse, which is usually by her side at school. However, I am sure there are times she will walk away from her purse, losing contact. This would not present a problem if the Dex picks her up again when she goes back near her purse. She would be covered 90 percent of the time.
If you go out of range of the receiver, there is nothing to program it will pick the signal back up on its own when you come back to it. It may take a few moments but it will do it. I’ve left the receiver in my bedroom while I go in to shower (10 - 15 minutes, about 2 rooms away) and the signal is still there! Doesn’t really make sense but it has happened. I just verified with my own seven plus that you can set an alert to either only vibrate or vibrate than beep when it’s out of range. Good luck!
