Dexcom adhesive

The 2" Opsite Flexfix works fine. I would order that. I used to use the 2" stuff. You need to cut two strips, cut a notch on each for the sensor/set and stick them down in parallel. I now use the 10 cm tape because there is a little less cutting needed.

As for running - I am not planning to run another marathon! 5 k at what used to be my pace of 26 miles does me fine.

WOW. OK. I’m pleasantly surprised to see that they have free standard shipping on orders as small as $5! The smallest package I’ve seen is $5.75 for a package of 5, so it seems like most orders would ship for free. And they take PayPal payments.

GrifGrips work well, but my daughter thinks they’re too ā€œcutesieā€.

They’re definitely cutesie. I just ordered the ā€œat the beachā€ set to wear to water aerobics  I’m almost 42. I’m just re-entering my cutesie phase!

Late 50’s here, and I’m finally entering a pink phase! Got some cool pink Dr. Martens.

Oh cool, will probably order both then. Thanks again and happy running!

Yeah, unless you’re looking for that emoji tanline shape, definitely geared for a clientelle a little different than me! But the grifgrips do come in plain ovals and rectangles, with or without cutouts and in various color options. I ordered some and am looking forward to trying them out.

I’ve tried lots of adhesives for my Dex and also subscribe to the skintac approach. I’ve used opsite flexifix as an ā€œoverpatchā€ which works well but increases itch potential and is finicky to get on if you’re in to minimal, precise applications, but if everything works okay it has great longevity. Cut pieces of athletic kinesiology tape like KT (again, as an ā€œoverpatchā€ to secure the edges of the Dex patch) can extend the lifetime of the sensor patch adhesion, but usually peels away after several days. I still find that unless the Dex sensor starts acting up that I can get a couple weeks out of each one even if the patch itself is looking a little ragged at the edges at the end.
I agree that unisolve helps with leftover adhesive residue but I can usually get the same result with cotton rounds and isopropyl, it just takes a little longer.

Hey, if Dame Helen Lydia Mirren can have a pink phase and dye her hair cotton candy pink at 67 (at the time) why not?!

Hi all, quick question. I only just receive my first Dexcom CGM and will be using it soon. May I know without putting on extra adhesive, how long can the Dexcom stick to the skin? Thanks!

Just got my grifgrips with Dexcom cutout. I put it on and in my opinion seems better than tagErdem. Mainly cause it’s breathable. This is my first day so will let you know after I workout and take a couple of showers. To see how good it holds up.

It’s different for everyone…

It’s really going to depend, I think, on your skin, your weather, and your daily activities.

I live in Texas where it is hot, and I sweat at the drop of a hat. It’s already hitting in the 90F/32C in the afternoons here, and those temperatures won’t abate until late September, at the earliest! I also do water aerobics at least 3x a week and like to take long, hot baths. I suspect mine isn’t going to stick long without help.

Ok so one day of Tae Kwon Do and a hot shower and the Grifgrips are holding on tight. It lets the sweat and water seep through so thats a plus. Rather than keeping it trapped underneath the adheasive tape.

This is a great roundup Stoner! Thought I’d done a similar one from my experiences, but can’t find it in the forums right now.

Summary: The Skin-Tac gives me great adhesion through the life of the sensor, and seems to be about as good as anything at avoiding the rash – though I still get them no matter what I do.

I’m using an arm location and try to limit the damage to the skin tearing off the old sensor: UniSolve is great for this. I actually avoid the overcleaning thing you’re talking about, since I don’t want to abrade the ā€œfreshā€ arm too much. And I avoid using UniSolve on that arm too. It’s probably superstition, but I’m trying to eliminate as many possible irritants/allergens as possible on the incoming arm.

Like you I did not find the Tegaderm barriers to work out. It appeared to make things worse.

I still get rashes, and my dermatologist isn’t able to offer any additional help. But I love my Dexcom too much to stop using it!

Ok I tried Opsite Flexifix and was only able to last a day and a half with it. I was excited how good it stuck but it started to itch. Not bad enough that I had to take it off at first. So I went for a 2 mile run yesterday and when I got home I was red and itchy under the Opsite Flexifix. Took and off and replaced sensor cause I ended up with a rash or allergic reaction. Is there any way to combat this? And what can I put on the affected area to relieve the itching and rash?

Was the Opsite Flexifix under your sensor, or over? It looks like over, as I’m seeing a red oval?

I’ve heard of people putting down a layer of Tegaderm, then putting their sensor on top of that, putting the injector right through the Tegaderm. I haven’t done this personally, but I do know I haven’t had skin reactions to Tegaderm like I have to other stick-on stuff.

I’m not sure what I’d put on the rash. You could try a cortisone cream, but that might affect your BGs.

Yes it was over. I think i am going to stick with the grifgrips.
