Dexcom G5 Mobile App, push to Garmin Vivoactive?

I switched to the G5 Dexcom, got the iPhone, now want to know if the mobile app will push to the new Garmin Vivoactive smartwatch? Or is the Pebble a better choice?

Be a lemming and just get an Apple Watch. I did, and I haven’t regretted it! What’s not to love about a watch whose replacement silicone bands cost $50.00 per?

Not sure but I use an Apple Watch as well. Absolutely love the convenience of glancing down to get my G5 data whether it be coaching baseball, at the pool, in the office etc.

Good luck!!!

:joy: This cracked me up!

Sorry, I have no experience with the Garmin watch but am interested in the concept as I added a smartwatch to my CGM setup last year.

I bought an Apple Watch and a Pebble Time model. The Apple Watch band, the soft silicone one, is the main reason I wear the Apple Watch every day and my Pebble sits on my nightstand as a reminder to keep it charged. I don’t like how the Pebble Time silicone band feels on my wrist. I like the bright Apple Watch display, a feature that grows in importance as I age. I keep the Pebble as I’m thinking that it may play a role in my OpenAPS project.

I don’t know about the G5, as I don’t use one. But there is a Nightscount app for the Vivoactive (which I haven’t tried, because I haven’t yet set up Nightscout, although I do have a Vivoactive so maybe this will be a summer project):

Personally, I believe that the Huawei is far superior. My wife (apple watch user) is jealous of mine–as my watch face is on 100% of the time. There is a frustratingly long delay to quickly see a number with the apple watch. I often see her looking at my watch for quick reference. Not only that–but it will show you the delta value and how long until the next update. I have used pebble in the past–but I like android wear much better. Huawei states that it can be used for both android and iOS, but I have not tested it on Apple yet. Hope this helps.

That is a nice display and crisp presentation. I like the way it looks. It’s nice that it’s on all the time. What is your experience with batteries?

How does the Huawei watch get the data? Is the internet involved?

If battery is the primary concern, then I would suggest a pebble. I am a heavy user throughout the day and get one full day (with the watch face on %100 of the time). Since I charge my phone daily anyway–it isn’t a big deal for me to just put my watch on the charger when I put my phone on the charger. If I change the setting to battery saver mode (screen auto-off, disable wifi, ect), then I can expect around 2 days. Another benefit for me is that I have several High/Low alarms that I can snooze with my watch instead of having to pull out my phone. The Huawei is connected through Bluetooth to my phone and has a stand-alone wifi connection. I haven’t verified if you can get Dexcom data just through wifi, however.

Hope this helps.

That is very good battery life. It’s what I get with my Apple Watch but without the always-on feature. I think a battery that lasts 16 hours or more works well with charging while sleeping, something I do with my phone and watch.

I should mention that it is not wireless charging (unlike the apple watch). Pro-- very fast charge time (less than an hour). Con-- you have to me mindful when putting it on the charger because even though there is a magnet (similar to the apple watch), the prongs have to me aligned correctly for a physical connection. Small potatoes in my opinion. Huawei has the added benefit of a sapphire screen and built in speaker (only a few smartwatches have).

If you want to connect Vivoactive with your device then Garmin Connect is best app for it. Just install this app in your device and your watch get successfully connected with your mobile device. You can get this app from official Garmin website. Check Garmin Vivoactive Manual to learn how you run Garmin connect app in your phone.
