Diabetes causes changes in skin?

Hi Everybody

Recently diagnosed. I find my skin feels different then before it feels softer and different. Can anybody relate?

Is it the insulin? Or maybe it’s just in my own mind?

You are more likely to be prone to dryer skin. With diabetes and higher glucose levels fluid leaves the skin easier and with poorer blood flow it’s harder for it to stay properly hydrated. Your body is also most likely to use fluids to remove excess glucose from the blood. Usually keeping your glucose levels in control and not “too high” helps keep your skin stay more normal. Staying hydrated is also very important.
