I’d like to invite everyone to compose some haiku on the topic of diabetes. For the sake of simplicity, here’s a straightforward definition of haiku:
A form of Japanese poetry consisting of only three lines. The first line must contain 5 syllables, the second line must contain 7 syllables, and the third line must contain 5 syllables.
Ready, set, go!

Written by my daughter:
so I wrote a dang (can’t get my mom kicked off I guess) good freaking haiku about how you guys talk about too much and should get a hobby or something, cuz if you’re anything like my mom you guys are literally obsessed. But my mom said I couldn’t. So here you go. . Also use “bad words” in your mind when reading this. Thanks. I’m out.

Translated from my then 4 year olds descripton of diabetes. Probably not a proper haiku but cut her slack she was only 4.
They live in body
You can not see them
You can’t eat any candy
Or you will get more

D sent away friends
D really ruined my life
Rather be normal
Alone, sugar bad
Ask for help, turned away
Good numbers not reached
Story of my life
Health an unreachable goal
So what is the point?
Fasting numbers bad
Tired of trying to fix it
Nothing is working
Must tend to happier thoughts and the dog:
Fuzzy black nose is
In my face, so very cute
Wanting walk, treats, love.
Big tongue, panting lots.
Rub my ears, scratch my back, now!
Give me milk bones, already!

I published this poem on TuDiabetes on January, 2012:
Haiku Times Three
Spring Life
Glint of Ruby-throat,
rabbits nesting in my herbs.
New life – insulin.
Summer Love
Territories marked –
scents and songs and beating wings.
Drowsy dream of cures.
Autumn Inspiration
Frost startles the leaves,
rosemary tingles the air.
My scarecrow wears blue.

yes Haiku-betes was started by @dino
[image] I encourage you all to express your inner most diabetes experiences in the ancient artform of Japanese Haiku poetry.
The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables.
I ask that you please follow the format and keep all poems diabetes related.
Here’s my example:
Error 3
Blood drips from the thumb
Touch strip early error tells
Meter not ready
but I love having a new topic on this!
