Director of Development

We, at the Diabetes Hands Foundation believe no one touched by diabetes should ever feel alone, because together we become stronger and have the power to generate positive change in our community and ourselves. We provide platforms where people with diabetes and their loved ones can connect and have an open dialogue about their experiences with this chronic condition.

We are seeking a Director of Development to join our leadership team to help us make sure that nobody touched by diabetes ever feels alone.

Position Overview

This position will plan, organize and lead the research, development, and implementation of our fund development strategy, as well as the implementation of its supporting plans. Building on our established foundation of contributions that includes grants, individual donors, corporate gifts and more, this individual will help insure our sustainable growth through these and new funding models. In summary, the Director of Development is responsible for all fundraising and is deeply involved in the identification and nurturing of strategic partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities

*Work closely with the CEO and board of directors to research, develop, and implement a fundraising plan in support of the Diabetes Hands Foundation strategic and operating plans.

*Lead the organization’s development of its annual funding plan and then implement, monitor and report progress.

*Serve as primary fundraiser.

*Research and identify possible grantors, strategize best approach.

*Manage grant writing and ensure the accuracy of all funding proposals, interim progress summaries, and final reports.

*Lead grant tracking to ensure spending is aligned with funds award and reporting fulfills all requirements and timetables.

*Work closely with CEO in the identification and development of potential new corporate sponsors.

*Manage major gift program through prospect research, strategizing, contact and nurturing of these contributors.

*Coordinate individual donor programs including scheduled campaigns, unsolicited funds and third party supported programs, i.e. matching gifts.

*Provide proactive support to the Board Fundraising Committee, and its donor development activities.

*Manages relationships with existing fundraising sources.

*Provides training and direction to other staff members in a manner that will engage them in the continued financial health of Diabetes Hands Foundation while contributing to their personal and professional growth.

Minimum Requirements

*2 years of program or people management experience
*3 years of nonprofit fundraising experience
*4-year degree or equivalent experience
*Familiarity with Salesforce
*Strong communication skills, verbal, writing and editing
*Demonstrated project management experience
