Molly,
Thanks for the response!
Sorry to sound totally ignorant but what does MDI mean?
MDI means multiple daily injections.
Thanks Chloe! I am on MDI then!
In answer to the original question I think anything that helps is an advantage and I would be interested in definitely finding out more information.
- I use the pump.
- Since I quit the shots awhile ago my answer wouldn’t make any differance.
- No I wasn’t
4, I can’t say how, but if the insurance covered it that would be a start. Without it I guess I just couldn’t.
I have been on MDI’s since i was diagnosed 11 years ago. In fact I just recently started contemplating the pump BECAUSE it has all the extras. I would really benefit from a device such as the one you speak of. I would buy it in a heart beat. Then I would have no need for a pump. I just need something to help me calculate my boluses, keep track of whats already on board and help me calculate my carbs.
I pump, but when I took a week off from pumping-- knowing the insulin on board was one the the features that I missed the most!
I’m not sure if I would switch to MDI with a device like the one described, but I might!! Pumps still have the advantage of giving variable basal rates throughout the day, but that can be mimicked with MDI…
Let us know if you develop one-- or if there is one available!
