Maybe some gals too ! I dont want to be sexist ! Anyway, since being on CGMS the tummy hairs sure bite when I pull the IV3000 tape and other tape Ive added to keep the sensor going for about 9 days, loose ! I never minded the infusion set much, but now its so much tape being used. Im wondering if I would cause more future problems if I should shave the area first ! If it should grow back even more course, or even if it does grow back ! Im 70 years old and its only 2 inches long, so maybe I could shave it and it not grow back. What do you folks think ??? Dan
Haha, you know, I was thinking about this the other day while rubbing tape glue balls off my stomach from my last sensor. I have peach-fuzz like hairs on my stomach, and I had a lot of tape residue this time around and it hurt! I was thinking it might help if I shaved it before hand, but then, since I wear the sensor for 6 days, I’m not sure.
I can only imagine how brutal that could get with male hairs! XD
God love ya Dan!! LOL
I would shave… but watch for ingrown hairs and use a NEW razor each time. (I fear MRSA)
Another thing you might try is to wax the area… it’s simple process you warm the wax, apply, put linen strip over it mash it in good… and then brace yourself and snatch it off… along with the hair.
For tape residue… use baby oil or Avon SSS. It’s amazing what comes off with SSS
Unfortunately I have to. I shave a small area at the insertion site after I shower. It grows back after a few days but it is much shorter and seems to reduce the amount of pain when pealing the tape off.
I just take a beard trimmer and buzz everything down before each new insertion… that will keep me reasonably ok for 8-9 days on cgms sensor… Much longer than that and the hair has grown out under the IV3000 enough to be painful.
Do you know this is the best fun I’ve had in ages !
Depends on how hairy the area is and how much the hair has grown back. If it is just stuble, I won’t shave it. Pulling the tape off cannot be worse than waxing (no personal knowledge there). Problem with shaving too often is that the hair seems to get a bit more bristly after a while.
I have shaved and even have used veet to remove hair. so I can use cgm longer that 3 days.
You need to get out more often!!
Well I know that, its just getting someone to go with.
I use a trimmer once a week when changing my sensor. I agree on the pain in taking off the IV3000 with the hairs! OUCH
I shave every time I apply the tape over the transmitter. Since its 10 to 21 days before each change, I still have a few ouches. But the shaving helps a lot. Fortunately, since I’m a guy, I really don’t care if members of the opposite sex wonder why there are bald spots on my tummy. In fact, I hope I get the opportunity to explain.
