Stomach hair + insulin pump = OUCH!

I can’t decide what to do.
I always have the intention that before putting in an infusion site on my stomach, I will shave the little patch where it will go. “Why”, you may ask… Because it hurts like heckeroony when it comes off.
I know people say it’s just like a bandaid - rip it off quick and it won’t be as bad… but there’s a reason why I leave bandaids on until they fall off! Unfortunately, I can’t leave an infusions site in for the length of time it would take to fall off.

I don’t feel like shaving all of my stomach, but It never seems to work out to be convenient to shave a patch when it comes time to change the infusion site…

Anyway, I’d love to hear other people’s suggestions for what they do. I’m not sure if those anti-adhesive wipes would actually do anything…

I stopped using my stomach because of hair related issues, only mine was that they would not adhere because of hair (not that I’m that hirsute). I just gave up on the abdomen.

I have the stomach hair problem. I just use a trimmer before inserting an infusion site (I use the Philips Norelco Bodygroom as well). I never have an issue. I also use the adhesive wipes; they work pretty well for me.

What the heck;-) I have just been shaving my belly since first using the pump and having to put that much sticky stuff there. yes it hurts to pull the tape off with a wad of belly hair. Much more than putting the needle in, in my estimation.

I just shave the spot where the infusion set is going. I then wipe it down with an alcohol swab. Then I install the set. I use the Silhouette and it sticks like crazy all by itself. If I didn’t shave my belly, I’d be pulling all the hair out one little patch at a time, real slow, cause I wouldn’t advise ripping an infusion set out like a band aid. Of course I have ripped a few out accidentally though, and they just rip right off.

Thank you gentlemen for your comments and advice!
