Do you have a name for your meter

Actually, yes Jenn. Life is easier than it was 50 years ago. AND longer too. My mother only had Keotone strips to test with. Other than that, she waited until she went to the Dr. for blood tests every 6 months to see if her BS was under control. Complications from poorly controlled D were: at the age of 43 she started losing her teeth from gum deterioration, at 55, she had a heart attack, at 57 she lost the toes on her right foot, 3 months later, she lost the leg. At 62 she had a stroke. She died 6 monthsd later.

I’ll take my meter and self-testing 4,5,6 or 20 times a day to make sure I keep my BS in control. Thank God the medical research community continues to find ways to help control and possibly cure diabetes!! Please Jenn, use your meter and start to view it more positively. It is helping to save your life. Peace.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!nice one

i have one actually,but it’s not like a pet’s name,i call my meter bad names(BG>200)

another name to call m meter or lancet(count dracula, the leech)
hope you like it!

nice i like the count dracula idea!

Hey “I’ve got popcorn”-
So sorry to hear about your mom. Sounds like she went through an awful struggle that has made you very appreciative of every new advance and rightly so! I have only read about how bad things used to be, and how "far’ the technology has come. As a newbie knowing nothing else, I’m not impressed, but I am comparing it to my former life as a non-D (last year) and not comparing 50 years ago to today, ya know?
But in a historical context, of course it’s amazing! And I DO use it (a LOT, like 10 times a day) because if I didn’t, I know I could be dead shortly. I am thankful for the life-support of insulin and the meter to that helps me manage it.

oh yes!me too
old italy,and stuff

but in our generation,Edward collin would be more suitable!

hhhhh
thats nice,i would like to hear how it sounds when suddenly a duck starts (ducking)in the middle of a class!

i have no name but have called it a few choice words when it makes me angry!! i’ve been sitting here trying to think of a name and all that comes up are bad ones haha.

Good idea! You should do that.

I call mine… tester.

if i had a name for my meter and pump i’d call them count 1 and count 2.

The little pricker enough said. Greg

I personally prefer “Vlad the Impaler” for my lancet. The meter . . . well, as a retired techie, all electronics have one name, and since this is a family website, I can’t repeat it

Opie…Since I use the omnipod.

Lancet - Prick (I think someone else calls it that too on here?)

Pump - My Borg part… I’m being assimilated.

Based on some of the replies here, Shelly suggested that we get a poll going on about this topic. Feel free to answer the poll on the home page or on this page:

It is just called “tester”…I won’t say what name I call it when I am high.

My daughter calls hers Babs - Basal and Bulus System - but we tend to name everything in our family - our GPS all have names too.

haha my mom calls hers “my little buddy”

HEY
I CALL MY METER SADE AND MY LANCETS RIPTIDE…HEY RYAN YOU GOT IT!
