So maybe I haven’t done my research well but I feel as if I’m the only one with scary weird Low BG symptoms. Here are a few I’ve had over the 21 years I’ve had Type 1 Diabetes:
I specifically have Hallucinations here they are:
I would see thousands of spiders, specifically daddy long leg spiders crawling down my bed room walls when I was younger; or have dreams of thousands of spiders crawling on me during hypos in sleep.
Rearrangement of peoples faces, nose on forehead, mouth on cheek eyes all over the place! crazy! yet I still didn’t realize I was low or what I was seeing.
Little circles that were rainbow colored all over peoples faces, it kind of looked like rainbow pimples, ugh! creepy lol.
I’d see black kind of glowing dots every where i look and they get bigger if I blink. This is the only one I’m able to recognize a low.
I still have these symptoms and what’s strange is that I remember it happening after I’m better but while its happening I just don’t know that I’m low! if I do find out on my own its takes a long time for my brain to register and say “Hey! You are low! Go fix it!”
Visual artifacts/disruptions , I’ve only had them during my most severe hypos. I have seen artifacts like you mention on one or two occasions but slightly more common for me, is that my eyes are still working but my eyes are having muscle spasms and I can’t control what direction they point in.
But before all that, my most common visual-related hypo symptom is that I am looking at some text, and no matter how much I look at it I don’t actually make any progress in terms of finishing reading it :-).
Ive had that one to! I should have posted it! but The eye spasms happened with seeing the rearrangement of peoples faces, its as if you cannot keep your eyes in one place and you cannot focus. Thank you for posting!
Orange people with plaid hair, space alients, you name it. It is strong stuff. I would classify insulin as a hard drug. It’s sort of in a class by itself though…
