Doctor took me off the pump!

After being on the pump for 2.5 years my doctor decided to take me off the pump. I also have severe gastroparesis which makes my sugars even harder to control but he took me off because I’ve been in DKA 6 or 7 times in a year and have needed the paramedics once for a low. To dangerous for me to be on the pump. My a1c went up to 9.5. It did go down to 9.1 but I still have a ways to go. I’m excited to try this way of taking care of diabetes again so wish me luck!

I have 2 pumps that I’m not using anymore does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with one of them?

Since pumps are controlled medical devices, you really can only give them away through certain organizations, namely doctors, diabetes centers or other charitable organizations who can re-prescribe the pump legally. There a bunch of organizations that meet this criteria on our patient resources page. And don't forget to deduct the value on your taxes.

I also have unused pumps. Thanks for the info. I have really liked the change back to syringes!
