So a couple of yrs ago i switched to novalog from humalog and my doctor told me that not very many people do that. So I was wondering if anyone out there was using novolog?
I've switched between the two because of insurance costs...novolog had a cheaper co-pay than humalog. For me, I also noticed that novolog had a little more kick than humalog did ...I wouldn't be against switching between them again.
My daughter started on Humalog by our primary dr at diagnosis, was switched to Novolog by her first endo. We chose to switch to Apidra, & switched back to Novolog last spring after our insurance decided not to cover Apidra any longer.
I’m glad you posted this… One of my two insurance plans (the lower copay one) wants me to switch to humalog from novolog. I’m very reluctant because I’ve got novolog so well dialed in. Interested to hear about everyone’s observations that have switched
My insurance wanted me to switch from novolog to humalog.. I tried humalog on a free trial but my bg went crazy, so my doc is writing a letter, hopefully it will be approved. I found humalog stays in my system longer and I found it very difficult to manage thing with a lot of lows.
I was on Humalog first, then switched to Novolog after 2 months of humalog. I had trouble with humalog, which I'm not sure is a common experience, but I had pretty bad headaches (like not extremely painful but nagging and wouldn't go away very easily) with humalog, and as soon as I quit it and switched to Novolog they went away. I also feel like my blood sugar is better with Novolog.
i have been on novolog since i started pumping over 8 years ago. i think because Eli lilly (the producer of Humalog) is an American company, more americans are on humalog than novolog. on the other hand, here in Switzerland, way more people are on novolog (here called novorapid) than on humalog, as novo nordisk is an european company.
i think that might be the reason- support of the local business...
I did. couldn't get any control over my bs's with Humalog but got waaaaay better control with novalog
I switched from Novolog to Humalog about 2 yrs ago and had to bump up my basal settings about .1 units across the board. Took 2 months of tweeking to get back to same BG's.
One of my close friends (also a pumper) just went the other way, at her insurance company's request, and started going low more often right after bolusing. Could it be the Novolog gets into the bloodstream quicker while the Humalog lingers longer? Asked my Endo and he said it's more an individualized response.
Hi -
My 12 year old daughter has been using novolog along with Lantus since she was diagnosed two years ago. She is not interested in a pump and has been very successful with novolog. What questions do you have?
