Is Jade Diabetes available for Android? It Integrates with Dexcom, real time. I like Jade a lot. It’s a big part of why I’ve been on a pump break for 18 months. I like InPen but prefer Jade.
Thanks for posting about Jade Diabetes, @mremmers. I was not aware of this app and service. It looks like it is compatible with Android. From this Jade Diabetes web page:
Jade runs on iOS 7 and up, and Android 4.4 KitKat (API level 19) and up.
It looks like a comprehensive diabetes management tool and program. It works with MDI and finger sticks, too.
I have no connection with this company.
You are welcome, Terry. I’m pretty fond of Jade Diabetes - it gives me both a lot of flexibility on what I log and a good look at how it’s going. Here is this morning. You can clearly see where I pre-bolused for breakfast and how it went. Could have been better but could have been worse seeing it was coffee & two pieces of cinnamon toast smeared with cream cheese. I especially like the real-time Dexcom data display. I don’t know how they contracted for that - it’s a rare feature outside of dedicated pump software.
I’m curious, which pricing plan are you using, and would your opinion change any if you used a different subscription level? I’m kinda skeptical about paying for 6 hr predictions vs 1 hour predictions, and how worthwhile that is. I don’t see how any app can possibly know where I’ll be 6 hours from now. I’m also generally jaded by subscription model apps. I’d rather pay outright for good software than get nickel and dimed eternally.
Have you ever tried Xdrip? I’m wondering how it compares to Xdrip, which offers nearly all that for free… but only to Android users, and you’ve got to set it up to unlock all the potential. It might be worth it to some people just to have it doing those things out-of-the-box. And it could totally be worth it if it outperforms Xdrip.
Also, does it have any remote integration with Tandem/t:connect? I couldn’t find that on the website. I’m still hoping to get my insulin data uploaded automatically to Xdrip or similar software. Technically Nightspot can do it manually, but I don’t want to plug my pump into the computer when all the info is already on my phone and in the Tandem cloud. Seriously, I’d happily share my login info if only someone would do something with it. It’s not like I care if some hacker knows about my diabetes management.
I’m on the 6-month plan for $54. $9 a month isn’t trivial but I find it worth it. It does offer a predictive line but I toggle that off. I don’t find it particularly useful, hour to hour. The Ideal Range metric, on the home screen, tells me what percentage of the time I was close to what was predicted. That’s all I need to confirm my settings are still working.
I have tried Nightscout, using T1Pal, and it’s a nice program and service, with lots of bells and whistles, but Nightscout isn’t stable enough for me. I found it frustrating to use. I want in and out logging that works, period.
I found InPen a nice option but, after my first year of using it, I was on pen #3. InPen needs a better pen, for sure. If it wasn’t the cap falling off, or the mechanism becoming loosey-goosey it was something else. Plus, the software is very “nannyish” and your ability to edit data, give delayed boluses, or account for macros other than carbs is MIA. I now use a NovoPen Echo and it’s a much better build, for sure.
I was on Tandem pumps for 5 years. They are great! I took a break because I was really fighting the 5-hour DIA-based algorithm. I just feel in better control with MDI.
I don’t know about importing data into Jade - never tried it. Jade is out of Australia and the guy that wrote it is available for help. The couple of times I’ve asked a question I found him quite responsive.
