Dr. Faustman is working on a cure for Diabetes

I just thought I would post this because my friend showed it to me today. This lady is working on a cure for Diabetes...

I am a volunteer to give blood in her research.I have visited Boston twice to do this, and have met her. She is ver intelligent, enthusiastic, impassioned, and energectic. Her efforts to achieve a “cure” seem to be the most practical and reasonable :uses a long-standing drug with no known side effects, works with the body’s own natural system to regenerate beta cells without the use of immunosuppressive drugs. She needs about 5 million extra dollars to fully proceed into trial stages II and stage III, A major soponsor. The Lee Iaccocoa Foundation has donated millions . Read up on her research at the website. She still needs volunteers, as well. I beleive at age 55,with type 1 diabetes for 42 years, that I will NOT be a diabetic within 5 to 10 years.

Youy can look at my phtos to see my picture with Dr.Faustman taken in Dember 2009.

God Bless,
Brunetta

She has been working on a cure for many years hope she finds it. There are so many research projects that have been going on for many years like Dr. Faustman’s hope one of them find it.

That is so cool! I really pray that God will create a miracle for ALL of us who are Diabetics =D I will take a look at it all.

God Bless,
Mary

Me too!!!

Brunetta just touches on the story of Denise Faustman. Her research has been making news for some years. At first blush, it appears to be a potential cure (at least for emerging T1s), but as with any basic research, it takes a lot to make it real. And whether it becomes real or not will depend on whether it really works and whether the effort and resources are invested to make it happen. Kudos to Brunetta and others for taking part, but the strange part of the Denise Faustman story is the lack of support she has gotten from what we would assume to be her biggest supporters, the ADA, JDRF and NIH. Now that is certainly changing to a degree, but she had to turn to non-traditional sources for funding, even to individuals (and you can still give). I think of Denise Faustman when I get hit up for even more money by places like the ADA. Who do the ADA and JDRF work for anyway?

She is smart feisty, and a WOMAN… Unfortunately, I think that sexism is still alive and kicking. Madame Curie was the brains behind she and her husband’s disoveries, but it took almost another generation to give her her due.

I think that the ADA and JDRF MAY ( Now maybe I am wrong) be in cahoots with the big pharmaceutical and diabetes manintancane/management industries:Maybe they are not able to promote her most promising reaearch due to ties with those companies?/ I am not one who goes searching for conspiracies and secrets ( I do not believe, for example, that Elvis, Tupac, and Biggie Smalls are still alive and living on a Caribbean island ); but it does seem very STRANGE that Dr.Faustman’s research, which was inttially denigrated, but then found to be effective in replicated studies, has not received funding from neither the ADA nor the JDRF… I am no longer participating in the JDRF Fall Walk-a-thon in my city for that very reason.

God Bless
Brunetta
