Endocrinologists for Type I in Evanston, Illinois?

My son is attending Northwestern University next year so we are looking for an endo for back-up in case of emergency. Any recommendations? Thank you!

I feel so bad when no one responds. This is a community for support. I did a basic Google, which is how I found my amazing and incredible endo at Georgetown (who has now moved on...boo-hoo!) Really--try a Google search!

Oh, Northwestern has a great medical program. Have you checked out the university hospital and what is available for students? Some of the best care I got was FREE when I was a student. Check his student benefits....

Best wishes!

thank you! the northwestern medical school is in Chicago rather than Evanston. I have done a search and found several names but wanted to see if I could get some personal feedback and recs. i so appreciate you reaching out!

I live near Evanston but I go to see an endo practicing in Chicago, Dr. Phelps, who is in the Northwestern Memorial Hospital building, although he has a private practice. I like him.

Does he use a pump or CGM? When I moved 7 needed a new endo I called the makers of my pump to see who they knew in the area. That way I knew I would have someone who is familiar with the devices I use. Just a thought.

A good time for him to start rummaging around. He could call the diabetes education center at Evanston Hospital and at St. Francis Hosp. and ask the nurses there who THEY would go to if it was them. Then he would have someone close, someone who practices at a hospital nearby. He can ask them what systems (pump, CGM) that doctor's patients usually use as a follow-up. Evanston Hosp 847-570-2000; St. Francis Hospital is a Resurrection group =847 316-4000.

Boy...I just saw this posting and it may be too late. Have your son check out the Type 1 Diabetes Lounge. We offer educational support group meetings every month right in Wilmette IL. I would recommend any Northwestern doc especially Grazia Aleppo. Good luck!
