Enlite sensor and Paradigm Veo - UK Experience
Hi All
I wanted to share a little news and experience with the new Minimed CGM Sensor - the enlite - having read lots on this site about the delays on getting it over to the US
Comfort
- In terms of day to day wear the new adhesive and tape make the transmitter and sensor very secure - no need for extra tape even with lots of movement and occasional knocks from the kids jumping
Insertion
New inserter makes the process as easy to use as the new MIO infusion sets i am using - may make life who prefer manual insertion a bit frustrated as the packaging and process really do need to be used with the inserter
Accuracy
I have found the sensor to be very good overall - clearly the time lag (about 10mins) and slight variation need to be considered as this is not in direct contact with blood - but once incorporated into the thinking process the results have been surprisingly accurate.
Detection of lows very good - low glucose suspend mode a real life saver and works well
Lifespan
As the unit is self funded here in the uk the length of effective utilization is obviously a real concern - as an example my current sensor went to six days without a hitch (also fast start up and accurate from the off) and has carried on to the day 10 with a simple 20 min recharge and 2hr warm up - accuracy still good
Overall
The extended duration, insertion comfort and accuracy are all real positives, not perfect but i would hold out a little light of hope for friends across the pond who want to see this product get better - it has…
