Every time I eat

... I get awful headaches. Any ideas???

I have never suffered from headaches and these are killers.

does anything have aspartame or msg in it?

That’s awful. Sorry!

I get splitting headaches with high BG. Got headaches when I ate chocolate as a kid, not that it stopped me. The caffeine effected me strongly & I was allergic. Headaches were the allergic reaction I got.

nope, I am thinking it is related to my bloodsugars, but why now?

They are awful.

Yeah, I get headaches from aspartame and High BG’s, too!! A few times I got them during some low BG’s as well. Yuck. (Oh, and I also used to get absolutely horrible headaches with the pre-op shot before surgeries!!! I could close my eyes and the headache would go away–weird and very annoying, but not likely your cause!) Are you testing when the headaches occur? Just a suggestiong, but do a test at the begiinning of a headache and then maybe 20-30 minutes later to see if your BG’s are changing rapidly, possibly indicating a rising/falling fast BG which may cause the headache. Anything you can show “proof” of, meaning written/computer documentation, for your doctor may help you and the doctor to figure out what is going on. Good luck!

Is your BG high or low when you have headaches? That’s what I experience with highs.

Perhaps it’s just a different/new sensitivity to changing BG.

Gluten sensitivity?

Elevated blood pressure?
Hypersensitivity to certain foods? Do you have any food allergies? These can develop at any age…

Well today I had some soup I was not familiar with and used a past bolus that worked, but I shot up to 214 1 hour after going in at 104 and headache was awful. I never had headaches before, and I know…ha…I have gone high a million times.

Why now would I develop headaches with fluctuating bloodsugars? My thought is perhaps narrowing of vessels, I don’t know. I went to the MD two weeks ago and did not mention the headaches, because at that time I thought perhaps hormones, but now I know it is fluctuating bloodsugars, crap that means headaches always unless I low carb NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, j/k. I am really going to watch it and really try to bolus 1/2 hour before eating. My blood pressure at the time of the appointment was 100/60, so don’t think it is that.

I see my MD (two weeks ago fill in for sinus infection) in two weeks and my endo in three, and bloodwork before both, so I am hoping they figure it out, but I am thinking perhaps some sort of narrowing of blood vessels , crapola.

I have read about gluten issues and I was under the impression that the headaches would come about 12 hours after eating, this happens as soon as I eat.

We shall see and thanks for listening, I am freaking out a bit.

A shot in the dark, but here goes. In addition to high BG, foods with high sodium give me pounding headaches. Soup typically has a lot of salt. I don’t have high BP, so not sure why this is. At the first twinge of head pain, I start drinking water.

Hope it’s nothing to do with your blood vessels.

Bolusing 30 minutes before is a great plan. Hope that does it.
