I just got a new batch of Dexcom sensors from Edgepark today (11/23/11) which expire on 12/2/11 -- just over 3 months!
I wondered what other people were seeing on the the time left on their sensors between receipt and their expiration date. I usually have a few months worth of sensors (since I get them each month) and didn't want to have them expire before I use them. I wondered if Edgepark just had a lot of old sensors to get rid of or if it was a broader problem.
It doesn't seem like the sensors could go "bad" in just a few months!
Most of my sensors go bad about 3 months after I get them. My current sensor expired in May, it’s still working just fine. I do worry about it but have never had a problem with an old sensor.
When i have talked to dexcom to trouble shoot errors and such, they have told me that if we ever get a shipment from edgepark that expires in less than 6 months that we should call them and make them replace them. Especially if you get more than a week out of a sensor (we average 10 days). i figure we are paying a lot for these things, and if i were recieving close to expiring food than i would either want a discount or a replacement.
I also order my Dexcom sensors from Edgepark and the sensors are shipped from Dexcom not Edgepark. Mine are usually good for 6 months. I thin the expiration date you noted above is off.
I have acalled Dex 3 times in last week and have not gotten calls back. They must be very busy. Hope the customer service is not going out the window. Some one needs to compete with them! Anyway, I have used sensors 2 months old and not had a problem. Good luck with calling!
